New Colts Coaching Director
UWA Rugby is pleased to announce the appointment of Mitch Hardy to oversee the Colts (U18s & U20s) programme for 2013. Mitch has just retired from competitive rugby and undertaken a new role with the Dept of Sport & Recreation.
A former member of the Brumbies Super Rugby franchise and former Wallaby, Mitch was also in managerial roles with RugbyWA and the Western Force and so he brings a broad spectrum of experience and those colts who become part of his tutelage are privileged indeed.
The presence of Mitch will bring a new level of excitement to the entire club and provide wonderful opportunities for our future stars.
We wish to thank the inaugural U18 coach, Kathal ‘Buddha’ Spence, for the success he delivered with two Grand Final appearances including one premiership. His drive and determination was the basis for very cohesive squads and the skill level he brought to all of the players was impressive. He is extremely well respected by the club, the colts and parents and we wish him well in his non-coaching activities. Thankfully, his expertise will not be lost for Kathal will continue in a recruitment role, especially for colts.
U20s coach 2010, 2011, 2012, Colin Richardson, is to become a father soon and will take on an assistant role within this new-look Colts programme. We thank him for taking his squads to the last two finals series after being part of the premiership winning group in 2010.

Playing with the famed University of Western Australia and with a multitude All-Ireland medals between them, Andrew Finn, Fionn McLoughlin, Trevor Downes and Cian O'Connor are preparing for Sunday's grand final where they are hoping to bridge an almost 40-year gap since the club last won the title."
